I just found out why so many people have been asking me for adoptions lately. My counter tells me that I am listed under a search engine for reptile adoptions. That explains all these requests. Anyway, here is another one.

I found an iguana today basking in the sun on the top of a bush in my yard. After reading your page, I suspect he (she?) was bought as a
pet by someone and realizing that it was getting larger or too much to handle, they let it go. I called animal control and they said it was
harmless and to just let it go or catch it and sell it to a pet store. I must admit I did catch it to do just that. However, I'm now very glad
that the 2 pet stores I called would not take it. It appears to be healthy and a beautiful green, with a fine whiplike tail. It is about 18" from
tip to tail and because of that I was told it was too big and that's why the pet stores wouldn't take it. I now want to find it a good home
because I just can't keep it here. I have very small children and not enough room for the type of cage that this animal would require. I
don't want to sell it to a pet store because I'm afraid of what might happen. I'm currently keeping it in a box that is WAAAAY too small
for it. It hasn't even been 24 hours so I hope you get back to me ASAP. I live in VA and I didn't see a site for my state. Do you have any
ideas? Thanks.
