Okay, as promised I'm putting up info I've found regarding Lysol. First step was finding out that Lysol is a phenolic product. 2nd step was finding out just what the heck is phenol LOL Found out about phenol and that's what I'm sharing today. The following is a cut/paste of the msg I put up on the Iguana Mailing List. Sorry for the length of all this!
Finding out here on IML that Lysol was a phenolic product helped me tremendously in searching out info on its toxicity to our reptiles.....thanks!
A lot of us are the "why"...."but why"..."yeah, but why" sort--myself included! Which is why (LOL) I did a bit of research on phenol products. I think if you will read what I've found out you'll be asking yourself "why the heck is this stuff in BEER!" :o)
I'm providing the websites so that you may read for yourself and it may be that those with their own websites might want to add this information to them. Since I posed the question re a friend's use of Lysol, I've learned that several others were unaware of the danger.
