Hello Katie,
First thing I would suggest is try and keep your house at a temp of at least 74 degrees, then make a few basking areas ( a branch/shelf ) for your iguana. Above the basking area you must install two things, 1) a UVB light 2) a heating element of some kind. In my opinion, setting a thermometer on the branch and measuring.... what the temp will be there when your ig is laying there. You might consider having multi-basking areas for your ig, they enjoy watching out windows, BUT please note....measure the temperature ( if the sun comes in that window ) in the area when it's being hit by the suns rays. Windows will heat an area up by, up to 50%. This could cause heat problems with your ig. Another issue is excess to bathroom area. You will either have to train your ig to "poop" in a set spot (litterbox, newspapers, bathroom tub, etc...) It doesn't take too long for them to understand.......Where to poop. If Lola is out free roaming and she needs to go, she will head to the bathroom and we know she needs to go. You will have to install something for your ig to climb in and out of the tub.....or be around all the time to lift her in and out.
UVB lights have to be from 8" to 18" from your iguana....I would try to stay away from the upper end of that measurements if I were you....12" is good. The closer the better for them, but this also makes it easy for them to climb up on the lighting fixture too, which is NOT good.
Hope this helps some
