I cut & pasted this out of the Iguana Mailing List to share. The original question was that they had heard that vinegar worked as a nontoxic disinfectant.
"Vinegar alone isn't, but sprayed on, then followed by a spray of
hydrogen peroxide (or the H2O2 sprayed first, followed by the
vinegar) is more effective that just vinegar or just H2O2.
Surprisingly, they are not as effective if mixed together in thesame bottle.
This was tested on the usual Salmonella we are exposed to in our food industry, not reptile salmonella, so if someone is really concerned about reptile related salmonellosis, they might want to use a veterinary disinfectant like Nolvasan."
The question was answered by Melissa Kaplan. Others have posted the use of Nolvasan for disinfecting. I'll post more later on it. I DO NOT know whether you could spray the diluted Nolvasan on carpeting/tiling/fabric and it not hurt it. So....if anyone out here has a bottle of it, read the label for us and tell us if it is house friendly!
