Well Harry's Dad, everyone, I went into that darn drugstore again yesterday and despite my sincere efforts not to look, I did. They had one iguana left out of that batch from last week, and it looked awful. The food dish was full of moldy stuff that looked like wet dog food, and the ig was laying in the water dish and looked like it had lost quite a bit of weight. It was the only one left out of all the 6 they'd stuffed into the ten gallon tank, and I was very happy to see they at least had water for it. I was still feeling like a failure from losing the last one, so I walked out. And it bothered me all night. This morning I called my mom, and asked her to see if she could get it released to her because no way the drugstore is gonna give two to the same person. So maybe or maybe not I'll have another one to try and save. Felt like a prize chump for getting involved again, but can't seem to help myself. The vet is back this time, and you know, I did take the body of the other one in. He couldn't believe it had lived even two days - he said it was so far gone when I got it that there wasn't much anyone could have done and that when an animal is starved/neglected and gets into that shape it almost never lives. He said something about the organs can shut down even after a day or so because the system is no longer equipped to operate the way it was designed to(from the starvation)? Like the way the brain of an anorexic person forgets to tell the body they are hungry, the brain of an ig forgets to tell the organs to function(short circuit). Sounds weird to me. Anyway. I also called the police and they said since this is the last iguana and the store is closing in a week, they feel it's "pointless" to do anything. !!!! What a bunch of morons. At least this guy won't be killing any more lizards. But what kills me is, all those other ones looked like they were in wonderful shape last week, the contrast from last week to this week is horrible. So Harry's Dad, am I dumb for even attempting this again?

P.S. I'd almost decided to contact you to see about adopting an iguana from rescue too. I'll see what happens with this sick baby now.
