When my daughter (human) was only a couple of months old, she starting getting ear infections. Her doctor asked me if I had any pets. Why yes, we do...a dog and 3 cats. Well, she probably has allergys. I looked at the doctor with a straight face and said "What a shame I have to get rid of her (human child). I've only had her a few months and I have had my pets for years." Needless to say, the doc saw no humor in my statements.
I agree with the others. As long as you monitor your igs when they are around your child and you constantly wash your hands and make sure no poop is anywhere where your child can touch or get into it, you should be fine.

PS: I ended up keeping the human child and all the pets.
