I'm new to this board thanks to Harry's Dad but here's a suggestion. THIS IS NOT FOR EVERY SITUATION, ONLY THIS ONE. We adopted a MEAN, MEAN, MEAN very aggressive little pistol a few years ago. We weren't to sure about him when we went to see him for the first time. He bit me almost to bone and tail swatted the glass and cracked it. We called our vet about the aggressive behavior and he suggested a small dose of Esterdiol (spelling), a female hormone which is used thoughout the pet industry as birth control. We agreed and took him home and had him shot up with a very small dose. Within a few weeks he had calmed to a point were we could take off the leather gloves, trim his nails, and begin adjusting him to handling. The treatment wore off after about six months but he was already well acclimated at that point. That was three years ago.
This treatment was very successful however, a word of warning. This hormone can cause several problems that you don't want. It should only be used as a last ditch effort and only in small doses. This will not eliminate the breeding instinct after a few months and we have actually found ourselves taking him for a redosing at even smaller levels jsut to relieve the stress of breeding season on our female (when Elvis wants to breed, he wants to breed!). Again, this treatment is not for everyone but I would recomend it strongly for Iguanas that may otherwise need to be destroyed or given to movie producers for remakes of Godzilla.
Hope this helps.
