It really could be the female owner/mating season thing. Mine got quite testie around this time period, although nothing as drastic as your situation, but I would talk to him all motherly like & pet his head (he would cower & allow mom to kiss his cheek always) You can never run or show fear-- they sense it. My boyfriend who was afraid of him at the time, learned the hard way, because he did sense his fear & latch onto his arm once-- trying to mate with him. Eventually he let go, ran over to a green towel, grabbed it & had his way with it. He was fine after that. He woul just get kinda pissy around mating season every year, but he never bit again. He must know you are dominant.
If you really must get rid of him, please do not let him go. Find a home. This site is a good start.
