I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure where the thorax is on an iguana or anything else :)
I'm going to put up a picture of the head area of an iguana taken from The Iguana Den website. Can you tell me if it may be the thing on the lower right of the picture? And IF it is, look to see if it is swollen on the other side, too. IF you see the swollen areas at these spots, it's what I call the "jowls" of the iguana and it is a male. For pictures of the pores of a male and a female you may see these also at:

then click on iguana care and again on iguana care and scroll down for the pictures.
If this is no where close to where you are talking about, could you pinpoint it a little more? The only reason I thought of this other area is because you mention it may be a male.
