You want to talk about a group of messed up, herp junkies? Talk to those chameleon guys. SHEESH!!
Not only are most chameleons anti-social and don't want you to so much as LOOK at them, but they also sometimes require very elaborate enclosures with live plants, full spectrum UVA and UVB lighting, heat lamps, drip systems, and even humidifiers. And feeding! You don't just keep a simple rodent colony to feed these guys. OH NO!!! You have to keep colonies of crickets, zophobas, silkworms (since when do you have to get into textiles to feed a pet??!!) and other 'worms', flies, and various exotic roaches. Like it or not, you have to be an amateur (sp) entemologist just to feed these guys!
No, you won't see too many 'you might be a herper' lists put out by these herp junky chameleon keepers. They're too busy worrying because their chameleon looked at them cross-eyed, or they found a semi-digested cricket in their cham's droppings and are researching whether this means their chameleon is not digesting their food properly, should they schedule (yet another) vet visit, or are they being too paranoid.
Anyways, I gotta go now. That research isn't going to take care of itself :).
