The full story is that they had some sort of infection. There was no chance of survival really but I didn't know that at the time. If there heart stopped beating I would give thim a jolt in hopes of bringing them back. Their heart would start back up for a minute or two then stop again and I would repeat the shocking process. The nine volts were sort of like a pacemaker or defibulater really. They died anyway. Then, after death is when I had some fun making their limbs twitch. ha, I was morbid at that age, and foolish. I learned some things about frog anatomy and the nervous system though.
