Just wanted to clarify something. By collecting specimens, you're not referring to transients, or are you?
I'm not exactly a snake guy, but I got the logists of your story. I'm asking because the end of your story seemed like you were somehow using your wife and racers to stun (and perhaps collect?) the hitch-hiker.
