It is in their saliva, much like a hedgehog. It seems, or so I have learned, to only affect small invertebrates and would have no effect on a 3-4 ft snake(I believe it can kill small vertebrates though such as small frogs). Don't take my word for it, but the srhews I have seen are darn right measly lol. We got one in at the wildlife shelter and I was the one to take care of it. It was probably the size of a half dollar if even that large. Their larger relative on the other hand, the solvenodon(or something like that) from Haiti I believe is larger and more potent. Interesting though. But humans could be considered venomous if we had the apparatus to deliver it, so maybe it is not as suprising as is believed. Andy
