If the HL is a protected species and not a species legal in the pet trade, (the pet store may not be aware of the status just as the buyer may not be aware) you are in violation of the Lacey Act if you purchase the HL and have it transported across state lines by any means. :Lester, Here you go again. The short-horned lizard is legal for commercial trade out of nevada. Look that up! You can transfer any species across state lines if it was legally obtained and the state where its going doesn't protect that species. If what you say is true why are thousands of people selling native reptiles nationwide. I see native species from desert iguanas to chuckwallas to collared lizards to spiny swifts to horned lizards being sold nationwide.Jeff

:Jeff, I saw no information as to a positive ID as to the species in the post. Did you? No, I do not think so. I am well aware what is legal in the pet trade! Most of the herps you mention in this post are also captive bred and have been for years. There are a lot of native herps that are illegal in the pet trade. Lester G. Milroy III
