Very dry this year...can effect populations

I noticed after hiking out in riverside it is very dry, even weed covered ground is barren. I caught a couple spineys (Orcutti) and they were the skinniest I've ever seen in hibernation. I suspect that if we don't get more rain the habitat for horned lizards will be wide open for predtors to converge on eaisy prey. I am going to hike out in one of my favorite places to see when the horned lizards do come out of hibernation. I've seen them in April but not in March. I thought I would trek out in the middle or last of March just to take a gander at the earliest. Let you know if I see anything....
