In Reply to: Termites for Horned Lizard? posted by jack7777766 on December 27, 2002 at 09:15:29:
:Hey all,
:I am in Central America and just bought a horned lizard.
:The guy at the store told me he eats termites, so he gave me a supply of them. Looking at this forum all I see is to give them harvester ants. Also I see that you calculate the amount you feed them, The guy told me to just put the ants in there with there little home and the DHL will eat them when he wants, but Im worried about them nibbling on him.
:Can I feed him termites, and if so Can I leave them in his enclosure or just put some in every time I feed him.
:Thanks
:Termites will work fine for the HL you have. Do not leave ants or termites in the terrarium that are not eaten. Take them out and offer them again later. There is always a problem of the HL being bitten by ants that are not eaten and this will also cause panic in the HL. Lester G. Milroy III
