Recently, I recieved my first HL as a gift and now I'm trying to educate myself about caring for it.
If anyone can help me identify the species, here are the characteristics:
*It's from New Mexico/was found in the wild
*very light in color (sand color)
*has almost white stripe down the back and greenish/yellowish coloring near legs
*white under belly with a few small brown spots
*has 2 rows of lateral abdominal fringe scales
and 2 large horns and two smaller horns on head
I don't even know how to tell if I have a male or female, age, etc so whatever info anyone has regarding HL would be great!
What I have done thus far is setup a tank (including sand and rocks from place it was found)
found out the diet...I've been feeding it crickets and will be ordering harvester ants
He or maybe she is a real cutie...likes being held and lightly touched on the top of the head, but then again I know really nothing about HL so tell me if I'm doing something wrong =)
(also likes looking out the car window while driving, so say my parents).
I'm looking forward to learning more about HL and will be doing lots of research, but whatever info you have to offer would much appreciated!
Thanks to all!
