:How important is a water bowl? I haven't seen my HL's use it and it was become a death trap for ants. Also my HL's quit eating ants last week any ideas as to why? I have P. platyrhinos.
:A water bowl is not that important as long as you provide an ample water source through food items and periodic misting. HLs need water, Desert HL or any other species. Your HLs may have ample fat storage buildup for late summer and winter hibernation. It is that time of the year when HL activity in the wild decreases significantly. Typically, this time of the year the only HL activity will be hatchlings and first year HLs. Keep food items available for any late season activity and offer only enough to meet the need for a "snack." Lester G. Milroy III
