Help on Rescued HL

Hi I'm from South East Asia, and I recently rescued a pair of HL from a local petstore who was keeping them in soil!!!! Can u believe it?? I need all the advice on their housing, diet, breeding, lighting. I'm currently keeping them in a 20gal tank with a mixture of fine sand, repti sand and calcuim powder. I'm currently feeding them mealies and crix, and this is where the problem comes in... can they eat any kinda ants? Coz the ants found here r definitely different from America. Pls advice me on how to sex them as well. I do hope to breed them =)
