: i know the main food for HL's is harvestor ants, and some crickets on the side, but i was wondering, can you feed the some lettus and/or different vegitaions? I had some bearded dragons and i know they could but not sure about HL's
:Horned Lizard are not vegetarians. They are insectivorous, ant specialists to be exact. The only time they get any vegetable matter is if in their foraging they happen to get an ant or two that is taking such items back to their nests. Scat analysis finds less than 1% vegetable matter taken in. Bearded Dragons are no relation to horned lizards, so what you see Beardeds do has no consequence to HLs. You can experiment, but horned lizard physiology is not designed to process vegetable matter on a large scale. Lester G. Milroy III
