Lost a baby short horned-from Ants?

I lost a baby short horned lizard I had, and found it covered in the little black ants we have around the house I think they are Argentine Ants, but anyway they look as though they attacked the little guy. I have had regular harvester ants in here and they have never been a problem. I have him in a rather large 2 X 4 Cage so he had pleanty of room to get away from offenders. I was shocked to find him covered in these little black ants which I think were drawn in by a dead cricket that was in the cage floor.Have you or anyone out there seen this before???
