I think it is bold to say that his hognose died from a parasite infection with the limited info given and without actually observing the animal personally. Hognose eat animals infected with parasites in the wild, so why don't they all die? What makes parasite loads greater in captive situations than in the wild? Most of you would say confinement! Or unable to escape the poop in the cage. Quick quiz... if you were to agree with me and said the parasite load was the secondary cause of death, What could the main cause be? Why are some captive animals more susceptible to chronic parasitic infections?
