I purchased a pair of unrelated hogs when they were only a few months old. After a year of ownership, the female is still only just shy of a foot while my male is exploding out and getting thicker and larger with every meal. He's already 15 inches long and getting bigger every time he's weighed and measured. She has eaten since she's been at least 3 months old (her age when I purchased her) and never misses an opportunity to eat, so she's not stunted. However, her growth is slow and I am curious. I put a post out asking if perhaps my female could be a dwarf, and everyone who posted told me I improperly sexed them. I even began to believe them even though I had numerous other people check them out and sided with me on their sex.
It's nice to hear my female could hit a growth spurt soon enough similar to your hog. I was hoping to get her up to breeder length sooner rather than later. But, could she be dwarfed? If this condition exists any ideas about its effect on clutches and ability to breed?
