Hello. I work in a pet store and have some questions pertaining to Malagasy speckled and giant hognoses. One, we can NOT get these snakes to eat!! Our Western has been eating like a champ, but these other two are just not eating. We have tried regular thawed pinkies, live pinkies, thawed pinkies rubbeb on a frog, crickets, goldfish and even thawed pinkies rubbed in mouse blood, all to no avail. I don't want to see these snakes die...does anyone have any other ideas as to HOW to get these two to eat????
Also- pertaining to their venom- I have read a lot of conflicting advise on the "safety" of handling these snakes. I have handles them since they day they came in and they are very docile- but there has been a lot of contoversy about the toxicity of their venom, and whether or not they could actually get you with their rear fangs if they were to bite you. Does anyone have any info on this specifically? I checked out hognose.com but they don't really say anything, which seems to be what I am running up against.
Thanks a bunch!!! :-)
