The snake was bought from a pet store by a kid who tried to feed it crickets, and then put a live rat in overnight, and now the hog has 2 good bites in him. He will only accept frog scented mice and rat pus, so my guess, and the sellers, is that he's probably a wild caught thats used to amphibians.
So yes, he just put him on rodents, and so it seems you have cleared up what looked like a potential problem. When I finally get him here I'll do my part to convert him to unscented rodents, with supplemental frogs, and we'll see how it goes.
Thanx for the input, I'd rahter know now than worry later!

:There's a debate over calssification of hognose I'd like to avoid, so I'll just mention hair in stools in many coulbrids, and leave it up to everyone whether they think this speculatory a link. I own a yellow rat snake and northern pine snake. The rat snake feeds on fuzzies and the pine snake feeds on rat pups. When I first started them on rodents with hair I found that they had hair in their stools. This has for the most part gone away with the rat sanke as he acclimatized to having hair on his prey. My pine snake will still occasionally have hair in his stool. I thought this was a problem with their digestion, but my buddy who owns and breeds large amounts of coulbrids told me that this is normal for many coulbrids and it is considered more of ruffage than a problem. As long as you don't try to power feed your hognose (never a good idea with hognose) the hair it passes shouldn't cause any blockages that could harm it. Also you could ask the seller if he just recently started the snake on hairy prey. That may explain why he finds and seems slightly concerned with the hair.
