Enclosure Size

Hi - Everything I have seen posted says to keep your Hog in a ten gallon tank. When I got mine as a neonate in July, I was told that a 20 long (30 inches long) would be way to big and overwhelming. Well - I disregarded all the advice on the forum and the advice of the breeder and put Harley in the 20 Long tank. He absolutely LOVES it. He cruises the whole tank everyday - he knows his way around and knows in the evening where to go back to, to get to his burrows. I don't understand why so many of you keep your snakes in such a little tank. My belief is that if you are going to keep animals you should provide them with the largest possible enclosure that you can afford (money and space) since in the wild they would certainly have more than a 20 inch territory.

Keep in mind that this is not meant to be inflammatory - I would just like some feedback as to why so many of you keep your snakes in such a tiny enclosure. Thanks.

Martha
