This is probably one of those questions that should be answered "if you have to ask, you shouldn't own one", however, it may just be out of curiousity. So, how are gilas?.....AWESOME (one of my favorite reptiles to work with). Can they become tame?....YES AND NO....yes, in that most gilas become very placid and gentle animals but they should never be assumed that they are so tame and gentle that you can just pick them up with a bare hand; sooner or later, the odds will stack against you and you will be headed for a serious bite (happens more than people think). These are animals that must be treated with the utmost in respect. Are they a lot?....that is all relative. You can expect to pay approx. $1000-1500 for a hatchling. Personally, I think that this is quite CHEAP for the incredible beauty of a gila. To most people, though, I would imagine that this seems like a pretty steep price.
