Here are some pictures of my gila. i know some of you would say that this is a reticulated gila but my paperwork, from a very respected zoo, says that it is a banded gila. So no arguing about it.
This is the only safe way to handle this animal. If you take a short cut you risk a bite. And I'm not willing to do that.
Boy one day I went to go feed my gila and I saw this. Man was I scared it was dead.
But then I banged on his cage and like magic he was back up again. I'm sure some of you have seen this in your gilas too. All i could think of was how much money I had invested in this only to have it die.
One day my gila got out of his cage and I looked everywhere for him. I finally found him surfing on the web to the Heloderma forum on Kingsnake.com. That's how I found out about it.
Have any of you ever experienced the same behavior from your gilas?
