Heat tape and rack systems

I do not yet have a beaded lizard, but am working on saving up the money:) I was thinking of setting up a rack system for a beaded and some of my other snakes. The question is, how much floor space is needed for a full grown beaded lizard, I have been told that a gila will do fine in a 2X2, but beadeds are quite a bit bigger. Also, when you put heat tape in the rack systems to you hook them all togater and have the themorstat in one cage or do you have a thermor stat for all of the cages? Thanks for your help, Jacob.

P.S. Does any one have a diagram of how to do the wireing? (I do not know much about wireing and so on).
