I have some trouble relating to this statement. Obviously wild caught? How can one tell the difference? Good nutrition and a nice place to live will make any animal look robust and clean, wild caught or not. And vice versa.
As for age, we have 2 gilas that are well over 25 years old, and if you could tell that by looking at them, you'd be quite the "seer."
There may be quite a few gilas for sale at this time, but then there are quite a few people breeding them too. Not everyone talks or writes about it until they want to sell some.
