: has anyone here been bitten by a gila?
: if so, what's it like? i've seen pictures of rattlesnake bites and it's not a pretty picture, what does the gila venom do? how painfull is it? all those nice little details. also pics are always good =)
i took a bite from a gila about two years ago. the throbbing pain was excruciating. also my entire hand and arm swelled up. also some slight bruising at the bite site. i was very calm throughout the ordeal, even though i believe the venom was elevating my heart rate. i also have a friend who was bitten by one of his beaded lizards. his story as far a signs and symptoms was identical to mine. my carefree attitude helped me get bit, i do recomend wearing gloves if you free handle your gilas. although to this day i still handle mine without. my bite was triggered from a feeding response. my finger=frozen mouse.......lol
