In Reply to: Was that an old picture of "Nick" in your album? posted by kearley on January 02, 2002 at 17:52:48:
: Because he doesn't look to be over 31" or 24" for that matter. But then again it is hard to judge accurate lengths in a photograph and I'm assuming that that is a 16oz deli cup next to him, which has a 4" diameter. If he is that big that is very impressive. Our largest gila is a 21" female that weighed 1243g as she was being put into cold storage last month. I always thought that she was a BEAST because I had never seen one her size so I can't even imagine an additional 10" on top of that let alone the 36" that this person claims. WOW.
After posting this I saw my error - I wish you could remove posts like on the classifieds!
That pic. is over four months old, but Nick hasn't grown. If the lizards weren't "chilling out" I would take better images and weigh them to boot. The rubbermaid lid they're perched on is around 24". Sorry for the mistake, I always accuse others of exaggerating about the size of herps! If I was going to make such a claim, I shouldn't have offered a pic. LOL! He's still the biggest Gila I've seen. Not that I've seen as many as some of you LOL!
Regards,
Andrew
