Quizzing a vet

Hi there. I am trying to put together an article for the newsletter of my herpetological society on choosing a herp vet.

We are primarily in the Seattle area, so we have the luxury of having MANY herp vets. Unfortunately, this means that our society has to either list all of them that want to be listed or none of them at all in our newsletter. We are opting to list as many of them as we can, but we want to do an article giving people an idea of what to ask their vet to help them determine if he really knows what he is talking about.

I'd like to hear the input of people on this forum about what you would ask a new herp vet to help you decide if they were up to snuff. If you have something species specific that's fine as well, we can try to adapt it to make it less specific.

Thanks,
