In Reply to: When would a female GTP hit sexual maturity? posted by jamie on April 18, 2003 at 01:24:20:

:Just wondering when a female would be able to breed? I am unfamiliar with how gtp's grow and there max size. Any help would be great thnks

Most breeders use the rule of 1000 grams for breeding females. I have a 4 year old that is only about 750-800 grams and I will try her this year. I doubt that the majority of wild adult females every hit the 1000 gram minimum, but there are monsters out there. The average age would probably be around 3-4 years old and 4-5' in length. The larger the female, the more healthy the clutch should be, and the quicker you can get her to a full recovery after laying eggs. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this subject.
