I've been using 25 watt bulbs for years. They do not get hot enough to burn the animal. I could see a problem if the snake was coiled around the bulb if it was on, but how many times have you seen a chondro crusing during the day in an average DTH? Rarely if ever. I prefer flourscent lighting, but I also use incandescents. Good luck.
