My local petsmart would sell me live pinkys until recently. They too told me policy had changed. Incidently I feed frozen but have an animal that occasionally decides he doesn't like eating anymore and after two weeks of that I give him a live pinky and he's eating regularly for a couple months again. It was kinda' convenient grabbing a live one down the street. As far as the intelligence of a fish vs. a mouse I am curious as to where you get your info? I keep koi(bred initially from the same stock that gave us goldfish) and found even small flat brained specimens to be surprisingly intelligent. I think the whole thing is pretty silly.
