I think the limiting factor is not really the size but the ability to maintain adequate climatic conditions in the environment...the bigger the cage the more difficult to heat it appropriately. Although personally I am not a big fan of the 2x2x2, I think that more than 3 feet in any direction becomes a challenge. It is however feasible, I remember seeing a few pictures of very big enclosures in this forum...If you have to choose, a small cage with adequate conditions is by far preferable to a large cage with questionable conditions...
