:It doesn't take long for a python that size to constrict a small child. Just like the pit bull that has never attacked until it does then it is too late.

Don't compare two animals that are so completely different. With statements like that you perpetuate a myth. Pitbulls - The American Pitbull Terrier to be exact- recieve just as much bad press as reptiles for similar reasons, one incident causes hysteria. However, and I'd like to stress this, pitbulls were bred originally to fight other dogs and not to attack people. The public assumes that every pitbull-type dog is a time bomb ready to go off at any second. In reality they are not. In fact they are great dogs excelling at therapy work, obedience and tracking. Any animal has the potential to be a great pet assuming you consider the responsabilities. Careless people create problems. Any animal can be dangerous in the worng hands, but for different reasons of course. Pythons kill to eat. It's in their nature. Dogs kill because they are taught to do so by people. And to put the idea to rest that every pitbull is a potential killer- remeber Petey the pup from the Little Rascals?? He was an APBT and I never saw him maul spanky.
