Maybe you could contribute some useful information to the hobby (and lead to increased interest in your native snakes). I know they would be hard to come by, but there is certainly a lot to be learned. For example, I don't know if anyone has ever bred/kept the beautiful Phillipine Rat Snake ("Elaphe" erythrura). Check local animal markets - they might be a source of some breeding stock if you can't get them in the wild.
:If you could produce some of the less common Phillipine species like this, you might be able to export cb specimens to eager herpers here and really build your collection in exchange (if you ever wanted to get back into such common things as the North American species).
:Thanks for the great idea. Actually i have been thinking about it for some time now. I find it funny coz you seem to know more about our local snakes than I do. Actually you were right that there are alot of different snakes here. Lots of them are beautiful too. About the only local snake i know is the king cobra and the retic. Both of them are sold indiscriminately in our markets as food and aphrodisiac i think
