It was under trash in La Paz, Mexico. Apparently they can be found in the hillsides there during a certain time of year, best found under trash and debris. I know nothing about them, but they don't seem like a perticularly interesting captive. You would be happier (maybe) with a shovelnose snake. They are awesome and do very well in captivity, though I don't think anyone has gotten them to reproduce in captivity.
