But since this is an english language forum..... The English spelling, "Quixote" transliterates an early Spanish spelling with "x", current at a time when "x" and "j" were still frequently interchanged. On etymological grounds the "x" represents the original sound. Yes, it was published as
"El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de La Mancha" (1605)so you are correctamundo there!
I may have put the wron emphASIS on the wrong sylLABLE though!

:You just made the classic mistake of spelling it with an "x" instead of a "j", like the correct spelling would be from the original book by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra...
