Were you careful with the pH with your tentacles? The Columbus Zoo told me to make sure it was pretty low, around 6, and also pretty warm, between 80 and 85. If your water quality was really good, but the pH was wrong, maybe that was the issue. If you called them they might give you some more tips, they have about 4 E. tentaculum and one Cerebus rynchops in a sort of vertically oriented well planted aquarium.
