hi, the Achrocordus javanicus is the biggest variety, it can get up to 8 feet long. i beleive it is a brakish to freshwater variety, the smaller one, i can't remember the species name, gets only up to 3 feet long and is a livebearer. it is a saltwater species. the A.javanicus i beleive is a CITES protected species, the other smaller one i don;t think so. your best bet is a herp show, but even then i would have a big tank set up for them before getting them. if you think of them as fish you will do well. they produce a lot of ammonia as they urinate, and with a saltwater setup the animals are more sensitive to it than in freshwater. it's quite a commintment.
good luck,
Anna
