GTP's are not a good starter snake...They really do not move much period. Some can be docile, but even they might bite occasionally. Mine rarely moves. Granted it is beautiful and I love it more than just about all my other herps, it only moves when hungry or shedding. It may change positions once or twice a week give or take. Even though they are normally docile, they do have HUGE teeth and a bite is not pleasent by any measure. Andy
