:Never ever leave a live rodent in with your snake like that. What do you expect a rat to do? If the snake doesn't eat right away (IE because it's shedding!) take the rat out! You're just lucky the snake wasn't hurt worse. Be prepared to take the snake to the vet if the cuts get infected. Also, I prefer to have betadine ointment on hand, they have some at walmart that makes it stop hurting too. Good stuff.
