First you want to decide what kind of snake you will get, and that will be partially based upon what you are able to offer your new pet. How large an enclosure do you have room for and can you afford? What do YOU want in a snake? When you think you have some ideas on what kind of snake you want, then you will want to research the specific requirements of that species. For example, you may or may not need a branch or other object for climbing. Some snakes require higher humidity than others. It could be as simple as a tupperware container, some bedding, a water dish, and some frozen mice in your freezer. Or it could be much more elaborate. A heat source will be more or less critical depending upon what you choose, where you live, and what temperature you keep your home at. Cornsnakes and other ratsnakes are great beginner snakes, but there are certainly others. You will find lots of answers by searching these forums and then asking questions that occur to you. The folks here are generally very helpful. Good luck. Duffy
:I wanted to purchase a snake, but has not yet decided on what species to buy. Just want to find out what is needed for a snake. Besides a cage with branches in it, do i need lighting, heat humidity etc, ? And also do I need to bath it or anything like this ?
