:The 'general' difference is that boas give live birth and pythons lay eggs (with possibly an exception or two). Boas and pythons are both in the family Boidea, which consists of two subfamilies, Boinae (boas) and Pythoninae (pythons). Captive husbandry requirements for many boas & pythons are similar.
