In Reply to: Half-Aquatic terrarium - is a snake even an option? posted by Zeb on February 24, 2003 at 22:51:59:
:Hi there...
: I've never kept a snake, and certainly don't like all of them, but a few I do like. ( The ones I tend to like are milksnakes, snow corn snakes, king snake, some ball pythons, and usually nicely colored ones such as yellows & whites.)
: Anyways...I have this 40 gallon long tank. ( 48" long, 12" deep" ) I've been trying to decide what to put in it...one thing I would like is another half aquatic terrarium. ( Tank would be 25-50% filled, with a large twisted piece of driftwood hanging out...and land on back wall & sides, creating a water bowl effect. )
: Anyways, I'm not interested in tentacled snakes or garters, but I would be somewhat interested in an arboreal snake. Since the water wouldn't be too deep, and there would be branches/rocks and such to provide a haul-out, I figured there may be a chance that you could keep a snake in it...without it drowning. The snake would mostly be in the "upper area" branches.
: Could it work, or am I crazy? ( The latter option just may very well be...)
