I would have to say some good candidates for a non-shy snake under 6' would have to be a corn, a smaller species of kingsnake, or one of the small boa's. One thing you will have to keep in mind, is that if you get snake as a hatchling, it will spend most of its time hiding.

It has been my experience that rough and smooth greens are for the most part a shy snake. Sometimes can be hard to get to feed and will go off feed with no apparent reason. However, Im sure, just like any other snake, there is the exception to the rule.
