I agree that north american rat snakes like the blacks and greys are nice. Though if you want something a little different...African House snakes are really neat, small, rodent eaters that act like little boas. They come in a few colors (mainly red, cinnamon brownish and black/dark green)and have pleasant temperments. I see them on the classifieds pretty often. Check them out.
